Glasgow City Council is warning drivers of multiple traffic light failures in the city.

Mains electricity spikes and outages occurred overnight from Saturday, May 4 into Sunday, May 5.

This has caused traffic signal failures across the Glasgow city centre area.

The council roads department has urged road users to take care as workers head out to the sites affected and restore the traffic lights.

They say they expect the issue to be resolved by 'lunchtime'.

A spokesperson said: "Due to mains electricity spikes/outages overnight there are numerous traffic signal failures across the city.

"Road users are asked to exercise caution in the city as we begin the process of attending these sites and restoring them to operational condition."
